The Children of Horus? |
|
Lately I have been re-reading the collective works of Aleister Crowley, the infamous occult thinker of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Specifically, I have been studying the breakdown of history into aeons. We are primarily concerned with the most recent three aeons. The aeon of Isis was maternal and nourishing, and the aeon of Osiris was the time of the paternal and dying god. Now we are in the aeon of Horus, a time of self-realization and of growing curiosity. There's much more that I won't go into right now, but I am wondering if we vampires aren't some strong manifestation of the Aeon of Horus--in fact, if we may be the Children of Horus.
I should point out that all of this is part of Crowleyan Thelema. The goal of Thelema, which comes from the Greek word for "will", is the discovery and manifestation of an individual's true will--a singular path of possible action that encounters no resistance because it is in accord with the inertia of the universe. With this concept of will in mind, consider the three central tenets of Thelema as Crowley saw them.
"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law."
"Love is the law, love under will."
"There is no Law beyond Do what thou wilt."
Any thoughts?
I for one continue to study the Book of the Law.
